HAWAII HONORARY CONSUL TO GO

Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilkie Rassmussen last week announced the closing down of the Hawaii honorary consul held by Bob Worthington and termination of the employment of Pa Ariki at the Auckland Consulate Office.

According to the Minister the move for termination was recommended in an audit report received last year to reduce costs and staff in government posts overseas.

He also said that the report also recommended the sale of the consulate property in Symonds Street, Auckland City, and the office to be shifted to Manukau.
