The "Draft Government Media Release Policy" issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and put together to improve the office's in-house media policy is on hold.
The "draft" proposes that only the Prime Minister can make media releases about matters relating to cabinet submissions.
It also proposes that the PM may over-ride decisions on the release of information by cabinet ministers and heads of ministries.
Supporters of the now passed Official Information Bill say the "draft" is unconventional and contrary to the Bill.`
Meanwhile supporters of the OIB applaud Government's unanimous support in passing it in the House this week.
